How does Invisalign work? We will fit your custom-made trays, and then the rest is up to you! Invisalign requires much fewer check-in appointments than traditional, fixed braces, although we will need to see you now and again to check that everything is going as planned. Each set of aligners needs to be worn for at least 22 hours per day, and you will change them every two weeks – as you do so, your teeth will gradually move to the desired position, as outlined in your treatment plan.

How comfortable are they? Invisalign means that there is nothing glued to your teeth, no wires, no brackets that can come lose.

What about tooth movement? Everything is done on the computer using Invisalign’s software programme. From the digital image, the teeth are moved in a prescribed manner set up by your Orthodontist. You will find that tooth movement in some cases with Invisalign is better because it is 100% prescribed – only the teeth you want to move will actually move.

Oral hygiene? When wearing a fixed braces food can stick around brackets and wires. You can take your aligners out to eat, brush and floss in the normal way, then just put them back in. It also means there are no restrictions to what you can eat.

Treatment time? Treatment time is really dependent a lot on the patient’s cooperation. Patients that don’t wear their aligners and patients that keep breaking their braces will have longer treatment times. What about cost?
